Elmo {Sesame Street} Birthday
“Na na na na Na na na na Elmo’s World
Na na na na Na na na na Elmo’s World
Elmo loves his goldfish
His crayons too
Da da da
That’s Elmo’s world
Yeah”
Who doesn’t know this song? As much as I tried to hide Elmo’s from my daughter, Elmo found her and she fell in love with him.
This Elmo’s birthday wasn’t for Savannah. There was another Elmo’s fan, Faith who longed for Elmo’s birthday. Faith birthday is closed to Thanksgiving so it was a challenged for me to make a real cake for her, especially an Elmo’s cake. So after long discussion, we agreed on a dummy cake.
My adventure began wit Elmo’s figurine.
This Elmo’s head was made of Elmo’s snack container covered with red butter cream icing using a ‘grass’ tip to get the fur effect. The body was created with plastic baseball wrapped with aluminum foil. Head and body were attached using wooden skewer. Elmo’s hands and legs were made of aluminum foil as well. I made this a week prior so the fur will be hardened. By the way, remember the street sign on Sesame Street? I thought it would be perfect for the birthday girl’s name and age. They were made of fondant and gum paste.
This is the top tier of the cake. Looks like Elmo comes out from the gift box, see the paper wraps?
The 2nd tier dedicated for Dorothy, the gold fish. I made a 2 dimension fish bowl and 3 dimensional Dorothy and water splashes. I added the ‘curly’ decorative metal wires with the colorful water droplets at the end. How do you like my gold fish? The 3rd tier just uses different color alphabets, numbers and some flowers.
Then, I made sugar cookies in the shape of flowers with Elmo’s face in the center. Sugar cookies can be prepared 2 weeks ahead of time. I think they tasted better after awhile.
So are Oreo pops, they can be prepared ahead of time.
That’s me setting up the table…
The birthday girl …
Hope you like my Elmo’s Street Party.
