{Cooking} Yoshinoya Beef Bowl replica
Yoshinoya Beef Bowl has been a comfort food of mine during my collage year in California.
The food is tasty, low-priced and quick. It is college students best friend:)
I have not seen Yoshinoya in Georgia. Too bad 🙁
Today, I want to share with you an easy Yoshinoya Beef Bowl recipe ! It is a must try !
You might find other recipes online, but mine is the easiest of all… Thanks to KeyIngredient.com
It’s the closest you’ll get to an authentic Yoshinoya beef bowl.
Ingredients
- 1.5 cup Beef broth
- 5 Tbsp light Soy sauce
- 3 Tbsp Mirin
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Yellow Onion sliced
- 1 pound Shabu- Shabu Brisket choose the one with lots of fat
- White rice
Instructions
-
Bring beef broth, soy sauce, Mirin and sugar to a boil in a saucepan.
-
Reduce heat to medium and add onions. Cook until onions are tender, about 5 minutes.
-
Add beef slices into the broth and cook until just barely done, about 1-2 minutes.
-
Serve over white rice.
-
Tip: to slice beef or chicken thin, place into the freezer until nearly frozen, then cut.
-
Chicken version: substitute 1 pound chicken breast for beef, use chicken broth instead of beef broth
*The beef doesn’t need to be high quality, any kind will do. When it comes to the meat, the thinner, the better. I use Shabu-Shabu / Steam Boat meat.
*If you don’t have access to Mirin { a subtly sweet Japanese rice wine }, you can substitute it with one teaspoon of sugar.
*If you are a spicy eater like me, adding pepper flakes is a must.
Enjoy !
