Chanel Paris Birthday
Paris is one of my favorite city in the world that I don’t mind to visit many times. I love the trendiness of people, the golden city scene from top of Eiffel Tower, and what I love the most is sipping a cup of coffee at the terrace of local cafe with Notre-Dame Cathedral and River Seine in your scene. I wanna experience it again when I hit 40, this time with my daughter and husband. Anyway…
My aunt is turning 50 tomorrow and she loves PINK so much and she is a Flamboyant lady. I am thinking why don’t I create a Paris theme dessert table for her. When I think Paris, I see pink, black and white. But I need to add gold in it too coz. we associate number 50 with gold. So the Chanel idea comes into the theme. Let’s call the theme: Chanel Paris 🙂
The first thing I did is to create wording for the theme. I quoted Coco-Chanel: “a girl should be two things Fabulous and Classy” but instead of Classy, I changed it to Chantik means beautiful in Indonesian language. Chantik is the birthday girl nick name around her friend, so let it be the ‘thing to talk’ among them at the party. Miniature shoes were actually clear party favors from craft store, that were painted black. I cut silver felt to resemble the shoe sole. Believe it or not, I went beyond my way to get the pink boa for the shoes coz. it’s just truly HER, the birthday girl.
Chocolate bar wrapper can be downloaded here: Black and white stripes.
Since men are also invited to the party, I don’t want them to feel left out 🙂 so I added Tuxedo party favor amidst the femininity of the dessert table.
After the small details were all completed, I focused on the food. Something bought and easy to be assembled.
Illustration for the cupcake picks is by Audrey Hepburn: The Little Black Dress.
Last but not least, is the birthday cake out of powder donuts. Ooops one of the pearl string got buried behind the donuts. Big flowers, a fan shape tulle and pearl necklace to decorate the cake… very simple yet portray the sophisticate overall look.
After all the big and small details were finished {in mind}…. it’s time to think of the backdrop. A piece of cloth is just old…{have seen it many times}. A Happy Birthday banner is too plain. Thinking, thinking and thinking….why not creating a Cafe canopy? and windows and hanging planters and topiary ? dreaming, dreaming, dreaming, I snapped from my dream when I was informed that my aunt doesn’t have lots of space in her house and the dessert table is only 4 feet long. Oh nooooo, I have to trim my ideas now…re-arranging, re-thinking, re-design, re-SIZE, re-everything…
This morning, we installed everything in my aunt’s house. One thing she requested was to put a Happy birthday banner, so let it be it. We added the banner on and below the canopy.
To sum up, here is the overall Chanel Paris dessert table one more time.
