{Photo Journal} Disney Dream cruise line
Sharing our memories from Disney Dream Cruise Line…
{ This is a very long overdue post from our vacation 1.5 years ago. } Enjoy !
We spent our ‘early’ Christmas vacation to the Bahamas for 5 days and 4 nights.
The excitement began with a short phone call in the morning from Captain Mickey and his sweetheart Minnie. Savannah was 4 years old and she was thrilled.
These packages arrived two weeks after we booked the trip: a custom booklet with basic information about the cruise, luggage tags, vacation checklist and sailing itinerary.
As soon as we entered the building, we spotted Goofy and Mickey…
A standard room with a Porthole. The size is decent for three of us. One queen size bed and the choice of bunk bed or sofa bed for the little one.
The room service was beyond excellent.
RESTAURANT: There are 3 (complimentary aka free) nice restaurants: Royal Palace, Enchanted Garden and Animator’s Palate. Served dining with courses to be chosen from a menu {appetizer, soup or salad, main course and dessert}. The portion looks small but very full-filing. If you are not full, you can always hop to Cabana, which is a casual outdoor and indoor buffet restaurant.
Almost throughout the day a Fast Food kiosk called Flo’s Cafe serves pizza, chicken tenders, burgers, sandwich, salad and fruit platter.
Eye Scream, the self served soft ice cream. Yum yum…
Next to Eye Scream is Frozone Treats, which serves smoothies.
There are several self served soda machine, coffee, tea and hot chocolate surrounding the pool area.
There are 2 up-scale restaurants that open for dinner only and it’s not complimentary.
Palo which serves Northern Italian cuisines for $25 per person and Remy which offers the most upscale and romantic dining experience, the restaurant serves French-inspired cuisine for $75 per person. There’s dress code at Palo and Remy and they are exclusively for adults. We didn’t try any of these, because the assigned restaurants were nice for us. And we wanted to have dinner with Savannah too.
Out of the all the restaurants, Royal Palace was my fave. The interior decor was magical and ballroom-like. I felt like a royal eating there 🙂 The food was delicious….Overall we were very pleased and rate the taste as excellent. better than most restaurants we’ve been on land. The food presentation was a 5 star.
Additional meals you may request the room service. Basic things are complimentary but certain things are extra.
DINING: On the bottom of your Key to the World card, you’ll find Dinner time, 4 letters abbreviation of your restaurant and table number. Those were your reserved Rotational Dining that occurs nightly. For example mine is 8.15 PM – RAAE, Table: 99, which means, dinner is at 8.15 pm, 1st night at Royal Palace, 2nd and 3rd night at Animator’s Palate and 4th night at Enchanted Garden. You’ll always seat on Table number 99 every night. It’s up to you if you want to tip your server each night or accumulate them at the last night, along with the suggested tip.
For breakfast and lunch you can choose to eat wherever you desire. If you want something quick, then Cabana or Flo’s Cafe will suit you best. Even though you have been assigned to eat at the restaurant, you can always bail out and go to Cabana instead.
Each night the next day schedule/newsletter is delivered to your room. What time and where the characters will appear, activities for the kids or adults, and other entertainment.
The live show is at 6.30 and 8.30 PM. Remember at the beginning I mentioned about choosing the dinner time? I guess to avoid overflow in the restaurant or theater, they have to split the time. The live show is a must. The first night show was The Golden Mickeys, the 2nd night was Villains, the 3rd night was Mike Super magician and the last night was Disney’s Believe.
At night you can watch fireworks at the top deck and the Pirate party and other parties that we missed. There were play of captain Hook and captain Mickey during the Pirate Party. Each of us were given a Pirate bandana but majority of us brought Pirate costume from home.
Bottle water, smoothies, alcoholic drinks, specialty drinks and snacks are extra.
2nd day at Nassau, Bahamas.
This is a FREE shuttle to Atlantis but we weren’t too adventurous…
The ship exterior and interior …
Unfortunately due to strong wind, our ship couldn’t dock to Disney private island, Castaway {even after the 2nd attempt} …that was a big bummer.
We have more pictures that has not been edited yet… for now I hope you enjoy the snippets.
