Happy New Year everyone !

My first post in 2015 is about Recycling.  Here are my 2 thoughts about Recycling: 1. It’s nice for the environment and 2. It’s good for my wallet.

It’s gonna take lots of work and patience…{just like any jobs will require you to work} to get the reward: almost free ORGANIC food.

Healty, Organic, saving $, teaching the young ones about plant’s cycle and not to waste resources.

What have I recylced? I re-planted green onion stalks hydroponically and re-planted old potatoes, garlic clove and baby shallots that already had grown sprouts coming out in a pot.

After reading Enkoos blog written by Evia,  I am adding my Recycling collections: Napa Cabbage, Lettuce, Celery and perhaps Bok Choy, since we consume it often.

The steps are pretty easy :

After you chop down the leafs, place the bottom/heart/stalk/base in a jar/glass with about a half-inch of water.  Put it in a window sill, or wherever with some sunlight.  Replace the water every one or two days and shed the rotten layer.   Within a few days, you’ll see new growth sprouting up from the center.

You’ll need to swap these out with new plants once in a while to get fresh nutrients (or grow them in soil), but you should get a couple of healthy rounds out of them.

And based on Evia’s experience, the mature cycle of Bok Choy is 2 weeks. wowwww…

If you haven’t thought about New Year Resolution, perhaps you Recycling can be one :).

Cheers to Recycling ! Be Healthy, be Organic, Be money saving, Be educative to your young ones and Be waste-less to our resources.

Happy New Year once again and thanks for reading.
