{DIY costume} Tinkerbell shawl and poncho
Madly in love with this Tinkerbell Shawl.
Halloween night sometimes can be cold so I want to make a costume that keeps my daughter warm while trick and treat-ing. When I saw the Tinkerbell shawl on Etsy, it was love on the first sight. I gotta make it….
Very chic looking shawl
After quick searching on the internet, I am convinced to use this tutorial from Me Sew Crazy for the shawl base, minus the sleeves and the hood, and just cut a leaf pattern on the bottom.
This is my version of Tinkerbell Shawl. Since I love it so much, I make myself one too…
Again, I love this shawl so much because it’s not too Halloween-y, or too costume-y. This shawl can be worn for extra warmness at the grocery, especially that frozen and refrigerated food aisles.

Love the shawl and your daughter is super adorable! I’m thinking of making the shawl myself for my tinkerbell costume.
Using the Me Sew Crazy pattern, did you just cut the neck circle out and no the armholes?

Thank you Dani. Yes, I just cut the neck circle out and no armholes. The shawl is like a poncho. Very easy to make and what I like the most is, it will fit her for the next 2-3 years. Good luck with yours….

This is so cute! Did you use the same fabric for your lining as the outside or a cotton? We are going to the Disney Halloween party next week and my daughter wants to be Tinkerbell. This could be the perfect thing to keep her warm without covering the costume completely.

Out of curiosity, did you make the poncho shorter than what is called for in the tutorial to allow for leaving out the armholes? I am seriously considering this, but need more information if possible as my grand daughters live over 1000 miles away and I have no model. Thank you! I love it!

Yes I made the poncho shorter because I like it hanging and just covering half of the upper body. And yes, I left out the armholes so that way the ponco can be used for smaller or bigger girl. Hope my explanation helps…:)
